Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit our website.

Last Updated: August 12, 2025

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you contact us through our website, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Name and email address (when you fill out contact forms)
  • Any additional information you choose to provide in your messages
  • Professional information you share when inquiring about services

Automatically Collected Information

When you access our site, our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard web server logs:

  • IP address and approximate location (derived from IP)
  • Browser and device information (user agent)
  • Operating system information
  • Requested URL and referrer header

We do not run first-party analytics on this site.

Preference & Feature Data

  • Theme preference: We store your light/dark mode choice locally in your browser using localStorage. This is not transmitted to our servers.
  • AI message helper: If you use the “Generate Message” feature in the contact form, the text you enter in the prompt is sent to our API for processing by Google Generative AI (Gemini). We do not persist this content on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Communication: To respond to your inquiries and provide requested information
  • Service Improvement: To understand how visitors use our website and improve our content
  • Technical Operations: To maintain website functionality and security
  • Professional Services: To discuss potential DevOps consulting or collaboration opportunities
  • AI Assistance (optional): To generate a draft message for you based on your prompt. We send your prompt to the Gemini API and return the generated text to your browser.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties without your consent, except as described in this privacy policy.

3. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:

  • Data is transmitted using secure SSL encryption
  • Personal information is stored securely and access is limited
  • We regularly review our security practices and update them as necessary
  • We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy

Data minimization: Contact form submissions are sent directly to our form provider (see Third-Party Services). Our /api/generate-message endpoint processes prompts in-memory and does not store them. While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Services

Our website interacts with the following third-party services. They may receive your IP address and standard request metadata when resources are requested from your browser:

  • Formspree (contact form): We use Formspree to receive messages you submit via the contact form. Your name, email, and message are processed by Formspree. See their privacy policy: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Google Generative AI (Gemini): When using the optional AI helper, your prompt is sent to Google for text generation. See: ai.google.dev and Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts: Fonts are served by Google (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). See: Google Privacy Policy.
  • CDNJS / Font Awesome: Icons are loaded from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. See: Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel (hosting): The site and API are hosted on Vercel. Standard access logs may be retained by Vercel. See: Vercel Privacy Policy.
  • GitHub Readme Stats (images): Some images may be loaded from github-readme-stats.vercel.app to display GitHub statistics, which may receive your IP for image delivery. See: Project Repo.

Each provider maintains its own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies for details.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We do not set tracking cookies. We use local storage to remember your theme preference (light/dark) on your device.

  • Theme preference: Stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key theme-preference.
  • Third-party assets: External providers (fonts, CDNs) may set their own cookies according to their policies.

You can clear local storage and cookies via your browser settings.

6. Data Retention

We do not persist AI prompts or generated content on our servers. Contact form submissions are handled by Formspree and retained according to their policies. Hosting provider logs may be retained as part of standard operations.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Posting a notice on our website
  • Sending an email notification if you have provided your email address

We encourage you to review this privacy policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
